Junon Brutus, a prominent Haitian Adventist woman and a well respected business woman in the state of Florida has been divinely inspired to be in the forefront of the social and spiritual advancement in Haiti. Mrs. Brutus is a member of End Time Worship Center Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Orlando, Florida. Her willingness to fallow her calling and her passion for the Haitian people has placed her in the heart of the frantic battle to save Haiti from its deplorable conditions. During the past year, Mrs. Brutus has made several trips to Haiti, where she's feeding hundreds of people. In a recent meeting with former President Bill Clinton, Junon was rather shocked to hear that her divine instructions are consistent with the former president's plan to put Haiti on its feet.

 Junon Brutus

At the middle of the second wave of the feminist movement, particularly in United States, Haiti experienced the birth of Junon Brutus. Born Junon Manigat Volny on March 19th, 1967 to parents Jeanne and Jules Manigat, Junon seems to have been touched by an Angel—a touch destined for greatness. Whether the nature of such a touch can be explained, her performance in life as woman of God would prove to be nothing less than an angelic masterpiece.

She began her childhood education at the Seminaire Adventiste School in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti, where she did her basic preparatory education. While at the seminary, she learned her ABCs, the intricacies of the French grammar, the beauty of Haitian history, and the fundamentals of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.  In 1978, at the age of 11, Junon made her way to the United States, where she quickly embarked on the rigorous process of assimilation. Integral to that assimilation was a natural inclination to higher learning. After completing High School with flying colors, she attended Atlantic Union College in Lancaster, Massachusetts. While in college, in 1986, she was elected as the first Black woman President of the Student Association, and was the school's first black yearbook editor. In 1988, she graduated with a BS in Business Administration and a minor in accounting and economics. Moreover, in 1991, she received the Murdock New Professional of the Year Award in Massachusetts.

Besides Junon's ambitious academic performance, what follows would be the defining step in Junon's socio-economic status in the society in which she lived. As a woman of vision who refused to be a victim of society, she entered the field of real estate with exceptional enthusiasm and motivation. Her intrinsic people-oriented personality and her unique sense of professionalism quickly became her natural marketing tools. People of all backgrounds found her to be a fascinating businesswoman who possessed a philanthropic heart. Consequently, after years of working in the field, in March 2004, she launched her own real estate business called J&R Global Realty.

The business quickly became a thriving venture destined to success beyond measure. Her hard work, coupled with her Christ-centered life, began to produce impressive dividend. J&R Global Reality literally became a global phenomenon in town. As a result, in 2006, she received the 2006 Woman of the Year Award and was invited to Washington, D.C. for a dinner with President George W. Bush. As if that wasn’t enough, she was being conferred upon a lifetime inclusion in Who's Who of Women in Real Estate. She is also an executive board member of the Greater Haitian American Chamber of Commerce, and Advisory Council to the National Republican Congressional Committee.

In keeping up with her philanthropic heart, in 2006, she instituted a non-profit organization called Global Helping Hands. Through this organization, she helps fund education for student church members who want to attend Seventh-Day Adventist schools, send food to churches in Haiti and aim to build schools, health clinics and food banks there in the future.

During a brief interview with Junon, she provided the following answers:

Q: What drives you?

A: Making something happen in a positive way [and impacting] others lives in a positive way.

Q: How do you feel about helping others?

A: To whom much is given, much is expected. I feel that if I [am able to pave] a way it is not to keep others out but to help those coming after me.

Q: What would you say is your overall greatest accomplishment?

A: Developing a personal relationship with God where he is an active partner in all my business endeavors. Without suggesting a complete conformation to feministic ideas, Junon Brutus encapsulates the spirit of a woman”a woman who has been touched by an angel.  But more importantly, the beauty of Junon Brutus is a combination of her exceptional humility and the profoundness of her faith in God.

Junon Brutus currently resides in Lake Mary, FL. With husband Dr. Roland Brutus and their three children: Hadasha, Isabelle and Alexandre. The Haitiansda.com salutes the entire family, and hopes that they continue to be the change we want to see in the world.
